An opportunity to see the work of students from the MA Art Practice course at USW, from the different strands of Fine Art and Arts, Health and Well-being.
Six of the MA Arts Practice students, all of whom are taking the Fine Art option, are exhibiting in Oriel y Bont from 28 May to 17 June 2014: Debbie Bishop, Nicola Davies, Lee Shott, Lucy Thomas, Mark Parkin and Owain Jones.
Their final, postgraduate shows will be in September 2014 or 2015.
Lucy Thomas, Dry point and mixed media on paper
Nicola Davies, Acrylic on canvas
Debbie Bishop, Screen prints on paper and cotton
Debbie, Lucy and Nicola are interested in print-making, pattern and multiples or series. Debbie’s work deals with repetition and medication, Lucy with starling murmurations, abstraction and mark making, Nick with natural forms and the play of the illusion and reality of light, be it in her prints or painting.
Lee Shott, Oil on canvas
Mark Parkin, Mixed media construction
Lee and Mark are painters. For Lee, it is the physicality of the human body which is a primary concern, whilst Mark is fascinated by highly crafted surrealism and its two- and three-dimensional, illusory qualities. Owain is interested in play manifested in the form of broken, dolls photographed in abandoned, man-made settings.
