Contemporary Welsh artists respond to images of women from the University of South Wales Museum Collection
Conversation Project June – July 2018
Exhibition launch with catalogue – 28 September
The University of South Wales announces its summer exhibition, vis-à-vis. In celebration of the centenary of women’s suffrage, a selection of twenty images of women from its own Museum Collection have been paired with twenty images of women by contemporary artists from Wales.
Accompanying the exhibition is a conversation project that has taken place between the exhibition’s curator, Dr Frances Woodley, and each of the artists in which the paired works of art are considered in relation to one another. These conversations have brought new perspectives to works in the collection, and they, in turn have brought new understanding to artists’ current practice.
It has made for a fascinatiing set of encounters which are due to be published as a catalogue to be launched on 28 September. In the meantime please come and visit the exhibition, it’s an eye-opener, and it’s free.
Open 9-5pm weekdays, Oriel y Bont, Ty Crawshay, Treforest Campus, University of South Wales
