Oriel y Bont | Volunteer

cheery volunteers at oriel y bont We are always looking for bright, friendly, reliable people with an interest in contemporary Welsh art to volunteer at Oriel y Bont.

What’s involved

The role is to work alongside the Curator to ensure the preservation and conservation of the University of South Wales’s Art Collection. You will be asked to give half a day or a day a week.

It involves general housekeeping, cataloguing, packaging, repackaging, documenting and handling the artworks in order to be added to the Art Museum’s database and/or put on display or removed from display.

The role includes a front-of-house aspect too. At private views and other events, volunteers will welcome guests, log guests’ names, encourage guests to complete visitor feedback questionnaires and, when necessary, to handle money.

Who volunteers

Volunteering at Oriel y Bont gallery gives you practical skills in curating and organising an exhibition, as well as the public relations skills that come from working at events, such as Private Views.

Our volunteers include art students, practising artists and people with a general interest in art.

You will be expected to work with visitors, staff, artists and external contacts so you will need to like people as well as art!

You can meet some of our current volunteers here.
