The south Wales launch of a major new book on art in modern and contemporary Wales is being held at Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales, Cardiff, on Thursday 26 March 2015.
The publication Post-War to Post-Modern: A Dictionary of Artists in Wales (Llandysul: Gomer 2015) by Dr Peter W Jones and Isabel Hitchman is a major academic reference work covering a rich period in the arts in Wales.
It is the first illustrated survey, in Welsh and English editions, of the careers of artists and applied artists in Wales over the last sixty years.
With a scholarly introductory essay describing movements and institutions in Wales since 1945, as well as brief but authoritative biographies of artists working in traditional and new media, Post-War to Post-Modern: A Dictionary of Artists in Wales portrays the country’s creativity in fine and applied art, along with its international presence.
USW’s Dr Ceri Thomas has been a member of the research and editorial panel for the publication.
